Perspective Section: Photovoltaic Recycling Facility by Arturo de la Torre

A perspective section unveiling the interior dynamics of the dry-dismantling photovoltaic recycling facility, suspended above the historic barracks. The drawing illustrates the structural independence of the new lightweight metal roof system, which frames rather than burdens the ruins. It details the protective impermeable slab designed to prevent soil contamination, the spatial workflow of the recycling process, and the vertical circulation connecting the operational ground floor with the upper levels through strategically placed structural apertures.

The Frog and The Data by Shone Sotthachith

The project is based on a paradox: tools used to monitor ecosystems can also damage them. At Marais du Nord, AI and data collection rely on water- and energy-intensive infrastructures that affect the wetland they study. Rather than resolving this contradiction, the project uses it as a design driver. Architecture becomes a relational infrastructure where humans, machines, and non-human life coexist in tension. Drawing on interspecies diplomacy, it replaces harmony with negotiated coexistence. Vapor recovery systems, porous 3D-printed structures, and embedded sensors reframe the data center as a diplomatic territory where ecological impact is not erased but redistributed and made inhabitable.

The plan becomes a portrait of collective life. Zooming into the everyday realities of Kalynivske, Ukraine, the drawing traces the interactions that animate the community, from cultivation and craft to celebration and stewardship. Each person, relationship, and occupation reveals how architecture fosters encounter while remaining open to adaptation and growth. Children play along connective paths, craftspeople shape local materials, and music fills gathering spaces.

Liveliness of Rocks by Jiayi Li & Yingjie Feng

The section reveals the hidden labor and material processes behind the recycling facility, where discarded rocks are sorted, stored, and transformed into reusable building elements. Through layered textures and sectional depth, the drawing emphasizes the physical weight and temporality of mining waste while framing the facility as an environment of continuous material transformation.
