We are very proud to announce that the Drawing of the Year is free to enter for everyone.
Our mission is to support and unite the creative community at all skill levels; we’re very excited to bring you the biggest and most inclusive Awards of its kind that celebrates talent without boundaries. This is a truly accessible-for-all Award series where creatives of all levels and all backgrounds can be rightly recognised for their skills at the highest level.
Drawings are very powerful tools, and the Awards recognise those that have excelled in creating works that need no words to stand out.

£30,000 IN PRIZES
For 2022 we gave away prizes worth over £30,000 GBP ($35,000 USD) across five award categories

For the fourth year we collaborated with another exciting collection of partners to offer some amazing prizes including; bespoke trophies in collaboration with dukta, 12 Month Subscription License to MicroStation + 12 Month ARki PRO Subscription License, a desk and chair from Fritz Hansen, reMarkable writing tablets, VP Complete including 3D assets and textures and Isotope Watches, Huion pen displays, stationery bundles from edding, Field Notes and London Graphic Centre, and creative books from Thames & Hudson!

Each category is judged on: Originality of approach, style and/or content; use of media and the graphic and aesthetic quality; ability to represent and communicate intent or narrative; extent of impact and proposition.
All entries are entered into all the categories giving you the best chance of being recognised for one of the awards.

Awarded to an outstanding drawing or series of drawings of exemplar quality. This award recognises the most accomplished imagery across all mediums and styles. The judges are looking for drawings that excel in their creative representations, originality, mastery of media, narrative and purpose.

The 2022 Architectural Award is brought to you in partnership with Bentley’s MicroStation.
Awarded to a standout architectural representation of exemplar quality. This award recognises all types of architectural drawings, from those that excel in traditional drawing methods, to captivating visualisations to innovative creative imagery. The judges are looking for the most accomplished architectural drawings across all mediums and styles.

Awarded to an outstanding drawing which is underpinned by an environmental or sustainable narrative. Recognising the importance of environmentally conscientious design and the role creators can take in designing more sustainable futures - this award showcases those that excel in conveying strong environmental awareness, approaches or ideologies through their imagery.

Awarded to an outstanding drawing which excels in conveying strong narratives and wider dialogues through its medium and beyond its visual representation. The award recognises the most accomplished visual story-tellers, those that have achieved great levels of communication through critical, subtle or emotive visual narratives. The judges are looking for representations that need no words to convey their stories.

Awarded to a standout visualisation of exemplar quality. The award recognises the most accomplished visualised imagery that excel as key mechanisms for representation. The judges will assess imagery holistically with particular focus on composition, lighting, atmosphere, materiality and narrative. The purpose of this award is to celebrate visualisations as a fundamental tool within creative industries and to showcase their power in conveying ideas, narratives and proposals.

The Drawing of the Year is a widely-recognised, aspirational award series for the architecture and design community - past winners have gone on to kickstart their careers with their own design studios and even working on prestigious films.
