Collaborating with The New Raw
“Sustainable thinking and understanding our environmental footprints are fundamental to societies today and these were key drivers for collaborating with The New Raw.
Among other things, 2020 could be labelled as the year of the waste-pandemic with the worldwide waste crisis being amplified by a surge in single-use plastics from PPE. Undoing the good of banning plastic straws and other initiatives, we went backwards in the fight against the disposal of single use plastic waste.
Since 2015, The New Raw has been using plastic waste to create beautiful objects, everyday items and urban furniture. By re-using plastic waste, they are aiming to close the circle, giving ‘waste’ a new life and we are incredibly inspired by their research, design work and innovative ethos.
Through this collaboration we’re excited to create beautifully crafted, bespoke, physical awards for each of our winners whilst also celebrating the great work that The New Raw continue to do.

The New Raw
The New Raw is a research & design studio based in Rotterdam, founded in 2015 by architects Panos Sakkas and Foteini Setaki. The studio uses robotic 3D printing with recycled plastic to develop and implement circular design concepts of high aesthetic value and societal impact. The bigger vision behind each of The New Raw’s projects or products is to contribute to a closed material cycle for plastic, raise public awareness and stimulate local production. Through the integration of design thinking, robotic production, and material research, The New Raw provides complete design and additive manufacturing solutions for a more sustainable future!
