AWARDS + MEDALS

The six main Awards, categorised by creative process, recognise works across all mediums, styles and purposes. The works are judged by the expert panel on: originality of approach, style and/or content; use of media and the graphic and aesthetic quality; ability to represent and communicate intent or narrative; extent of impact and proposition. All submitted works are entered into all the categories and must relate to the built environment

A series of standout works will also be recognised for specific skills and attributes through the Medal categories including the Collaborator’s Choice Medal which will celebrate creatives who are redefining visual representation through originality and craft of technology.

The medal will be judged by a unique panel of inspiring creative voices across architecture, design and art, bringing together leading practitioners alongside emerging student talent who are shaping new conversations, leading perspectives and innovating ways of learning across the creative disciplines

THE USE OF AI

The Drawing of the Year Awards celebrate and recognise human creativity, craft, and critical design thinking. AI should be viewed as a tool to empower the creative process, not as the creator itself. It may be used to support research, ideation, development or refinement, but human creative authorship must remain the dominant element in the creation process. Entries should be driven by the entrant’s own ideas, judgement, and originality, with AI an assistive element only, rather than a primary generative tool

Any use of AI must be clearly declared during the submission period. While AI offers powerful opportunities to support creative practice, it should not displace the human imagination, intention, and design thinking that these awards exist to celebrate

2025 EXPERT JUDGING PANEL

The prestigious Awards invite renowned creative practitioners and industry experts onto the judging panel to judge the six main Award categories. Each judge brings unique knowledge and experience of visual representation and image creation from the creative industries. With members of the panel in 2025 from notable studios and collectives including; Zaha Hadid Architects, Foster + Partners, RSHP, Hayes Davidson and the London Festival of Architecture

The 2026 panel will be announced soon
