AWARDS TIMELINE
AWARDS + MEDALS
The six main Awards categorise works by typology. Each Award is judged by the expert panel on: originality of approach, style and/or content; use of media; aesthetic qualities; ability to represent and communicate intent or narrative; extent of impact and proposition
All submitted works are entered into all the categories and must relate to the built environment
A series of Medal categories will recognise standout works for specific skills and attributes. Each Medal category will be judged by a unique panel of inspiring creative voices from across architecture, design and art, bringing together leading practitioners alongside emerging student talent who are shaping new conversations, leading perspectives and innovating ways of learning across the creative disciplines
THE USE OF AI
The Drawing of the Year Awards celebrate and recognise human creativity, craft, and critical design thinking. AI should be viewed as a tool to empower the creative process, not as the creator itself. It may be used to support research, ideation, development or refinement, but human creative authorship must remain the dominant element in the creation process. Entries should be driven by the entrant’s own ideas, judgement, and originality, with AI an assistive element only, rather than a primary generative tool
Any use of AI must be clearly declared during the submission period. While AI offers powerful opportunities to support creative practice, it should not displace the human imagination, intention, and design thinking that these awards exist to celebrate
