TROPHIES DESIGN 2019

Mamou-Mani Architects

Mamou-Mani is an award-winning and international RIBA chartered practice based in London, UK, and specialises in digitally designed and fabricated architecture. They believe in innovation, and evolving architecture’s role in society by utilising new technologies.

The Drawing of the Year Trophies 2019

The Drawing of the Year 2019 trophies were designed by Mamou-Mani Architects using computational design tools that generate and evolve designs based on rules and parameters, similarly to that of natural processes.

“We wanted the Archisource drawing award to showcase the many possibilities of parametric design in these three variations, exploring the creative freedom this design process can bring.”

“Our work delves into the architect as maker and the holistic nature of the design process. We believe in craft, and through the use of custom software link our digital files to our fabrication tools (laser-cutting, 3D Printing, CNC-milling), which takes place at our fabrication facility in east London, FabPub. The trophies for the Archisource award have been created using the open-source software Silkworm for Rhino, developed by Arthur Mamou-Mani and Adam Holloway.”

Archisource Team

“Mamou-Mani Architects have injected their practice’s ethos into three beautifully crafted physical awards. These awards work as a triptych and demonstrates the wonders of parametric design, Mamou-Mani are really pushing boundaries in their fabricated work and we are so grateful for their collaboration in our competition.”

“Printed with bioplastic from sugar canes, Mamou-Mani’s approach reflects their environmental ethos and was a fundamental reason for why we approached them to design our Archisource Drawing of the Year Awards as well as judge the Environmental Award.”
